The first Byrdlands were slim, custom built, L-5 models for guitarists Billy Byrd and Hank Garland. In the mid-1950s, the Thinline series was produced, which included a line of thinner guitars like the Byrdland. The guitar was offered in Custom, Standard, Special, and Junior models.
